For years, Ben wanted to have work done to his teeth but had never taken the leap to do so for many reasons. That changed when he met dental hygenist, Cheri, from Morgantown Dental Group and asked her where she worked and how she liked it there. “Many people either love what they do or hate it. One evening Hans was watching TV and saw a commercial about Mini Dental Implants. “I had problems with my dentures for some time. They were loose and pretty uncomfortable. I’d tried having them corrected but no one had been able to make them work. When I saw the commercial about implants I didn’t even know they were an option. So I called Morgantown Dental Group and scheduled a consultation with Dr. Dolin.”

When Hans came for his consultation it was very apparent that dental implants were the perfect solution for his problems. “When I met with Dr. Dolin he took a look at me and my dentures and then showed me molds of how dental implants work. I was amazed and knew that is what I needed and wanted. I told him I’d like to do it right now and that is what we did! In one visit he was able to put in 10 implants. It was totally painless and he made me feel very relaxed. The dentures were refuted and sent out for alteration. When they came back they fit perfectly, and since the upper plate didn’t need to be near as big I can actually taste my food and chew it.”

Ava is 90+ years young. Over time, she had some teeth that had become dark and she wanted to do something about it. “My husband had dentures for a long time and never liked to wear them because they were uncomfortable and would fall out. He would leave them out most of the time and I didn’t want to have the same thing happen to me. So, when I heard about mini dental implants that Dr. Dolin provided I wanted that for myself. He answered all of my questions and took the time to help me understand what I needed.”

For Ava, she needed to have several teeth extracted and replaced with dental implants. Even though Laura Snyder had been living in Morgantown, she admitted, “I had still been going to a dentist in Oakland where I had lived for a long time. I used to just travel from Morgantown all the way back down to Oakland to the dentist. But, I kind of had a bad feeling that something had happened with my teeth, and it caused me to change. My husband had been going to the original Dr. Wilson, so he suggested I call Morgantown Dental Group.”

Laura was thankful that when she called, she was able to get an appointment with Dr. Dolin right away because she had a dental emergency. At her visit, it was confirmed that she needed to have a tooth pulled.

“He was very compassionate and I appreciated his steadiness,” Laura said of first meeting Dr. Dolin.

“That was the first time a dentist had talked to me about implants,” Laura said.

People often wonder whether the grass is greener on the other side. Well, Anthony Bermea can’t speak for grass, but he can speak for his teeth—which are now straighter, whiter, and healthier thanks to Morgantown Dental Group.

Anthony said growing up he felt his problematic teeth were always holding him back. He admitted that he didn’t take much care of them because he felt it was a lost cause. And when he landed a job that required constant travel from Texas to West Virginia, he had even less time to focus on his oral health.

It wasn’t until one night out in Morgantown where he met “Dr. Ed” Hawkins that he decided to take a step in the right direction. He made an appointment at Morgantown Dental Group.

Anthony’s first visit was a regular cleaning with Dr. Josh Dolin, where he nonchalantly voiced his concerns about his teeth. Dr. Dolin suggested to him porcelain veneers.

“I was really just inquiring about it at the time,” Anthony shrugged. He was most skeptical about being able to afford the procedure. “We started a consultation right there and then, Josh printed me up the numbers, and I said ‘Let’s do it!’”

Beverly suffers from sleep apnea, a serious disorder that causes her to stop breathing numerous times during the night. Untreated sleep apnea can lead to excessive loss of sleep as well as more serious health issues, including the increased risk of heart failure. Beverly tried using a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine to help her breathe more easily, but it created more problems than it solved. The machine was bulky, restricted her movement, and the breathing mask which covered her nose and mouth caused her increased anxiety.

Beverly’s doctor referred her to Dr. Dolin at Morgantown Dental Group for a customized sleep apnea device.

“I was a bit apprehensive about the sleep apnea device. I didn’t know what to expect or what it would look like, but it is great!" Beverly admitted, "The device looks just like a mouth guard. It is small, convenient, and comfortable. I now sleep peacefully, my anxiety is gone, and my heart doesn’t have to work overtime to ensure I am breathing properly–it’s literally my life saver!”

After Blake suffered a broken nose during a basketball game earlier in life, his breathing and sleeping have never been the same.

“I never felt like I would get a good night’s sleep; I never felt rested,” recalled Blake.

Waking up several times a night and complaints from his wife about snoring prompted Blake to seek treatment. After participating in a sleep study, Blake was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea.

There are several treatment options for sleep apnea, and while Blake initially used a bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) machine, it didn’t fully meet his needs. Having already been a patient at Morgantown Dental Group for dental care, Blake decided to seek the advice of Dr. Josh Dolin, who offers a less invasive method of treatment for sleep apnea. Dr. Dolin suggested that Blake tries the Somnodent® sleep appliance, which basically looks like a mouth guard for sports.

“The appliance was great!” recounted Blake, “It was small enough to travel with, comfortable to use, and so easy to maintain. I simply had to wash it out after using.”

Most importantly for Blake, the appliance seemed to solve his problem of sleep apnea. Blake is now sleeping better, waking up feeling rested, and enjoying the simplicity of his sleep apnea solution.

Jared, Melissa, Kyle, and Ryan first came to Morgantown Dental Group when they were told by their previous dentist it would be several weeks before they could be seen. It had been 15 years since Jared had been to any dentist due to a bad experience earlier in life.

Chastidy Funk first met Dr. Hawkins while he volunteered at 4H.

Chastidy recalled, “He was so great with my kids and everyone just really enjoyed having him there. So we decided to see if he was as good of a dentist as he was as a 4H leader... and he’s even better!”

She had experienced a tremendous amount of dental issues prior to coming to Morgantown Dental Group. When she arrived, she was in great need of a comprehensive treatment plan to correct the longstanding issues with her teeth. She required multiple root canals, gold to white crowns, and three dental implants.

“I was in a lot of pain due to the condition of my teeth. Eating certain foods was just simply out of the question, and I was so self-conscious about smiling. Dr. Emory Kemp moved to Morgantown 50 years ago.

“I first went to Morgantown Dental Group in 1962. Over the years, I have trusted the recommendations of both Dr. Fred Wilson and Dr. Michael Wilson. I’ve had routine cleanings, a crown, and a tooth extraction,” recalled Dr. Kemp.

Dr. Kemp served West Virginia University through the Department of Civil Engineering as a professor and head of the department, as well as at the Department of Arts and Sciences as a historian.

“There is a whole gang of us in the Kemp clan that go to Morgantown Dental Group. Three generations to be exact," he said proudly.

Dr. Kemp and his wife have three children, all of which visit Morgantown Dental Group. His children and three grandchildren who live in Morgantown continue to see Morgantown Dental Group for all of their preventive, general, and cosmetic dentistry needs.

George has been a patient of Dr. Hawkins's for more than 30 years.

“I have stayed with Morgantown Dental Group mainly because Dr. Hawkins has never caused me any pain. He is very gentle, meticulous, knowledgeable, and an all-around fantastic dentist. He put a crown in for me in the late 70s and it is still there to this day. I have not had any problems with it... now that’s quality,” George recapped.

Harry, a retired miner from Fairmont, West Virginia, was missing two of his teeth and had been exploring his options for dental implants. The traditional dental implant procedure, including healing time, was estimated to take 12 months, but his daughter’s wedding was just a few months away and he didn’t have the time to wait. Harry’s son-in-law referred him to Morgantown Dental Group, where Harry talked to Dr. Dolin about the minimally invasive, mini dental implant procedure.

Dr. Dolin estimated the mini dental implant procedure, including healing time, would take only two months and cost significantly less than traditional implants.

“The implants worked out really well. I am completely satisfied, and most importantly I was able to attend the wedding reception and smile in all the pictures without being embarrassed," Harry exclaimed.

Joseph had struggled with his dental health for years. He had already received multiple dental implants and dentures, but was having increasing more difficulty. “At first the implants and dentures did okay, but over time they began to fail and my previous dentist was not able to correct the issues I was having. It had gotten so bad that for nearly a year I was struggling to eat, was in a lot of discomfort, and just in bad shape all around. That is a terrible way to live.”

After hearing about Morgantown Dental Group, Joseph scheduled an appointment with Dr. Dolin. “From the very first time I met Dr. Dolin I could tell he really knew his stuff. He was able to quickly determine what needed to be done to fix what could be fixed and replace what needed to be replaced. I went in with nothing and came out with mini-dental implants and dentures that worked and looked great. The entire staff was very friendly and professional the whole time. Now I’m in great shape, can eat whatever I want, and feel good too. I’m just very appreciate of what they did for me!”

Joyce had been seeing her niece who was a dental school student for her dental needs, but as her niece was approaching graduation, Joyce began to consider which dentist she would now use for her dental care.

“Dr. Josh Dolin was the professional dentist who would check my niece’s work while she was attending dental school,” recalled Joyce.

Little did she know, the future held some serious dental problems for Joyce, and she found herself with a three-tooth gap that would have to be remedied with dental implants. She had to see a periodontist for a traditional style implant consultation. The periodontist discovered that the bone in Joyce’s mouth was too thin to support traditional implants and Joyce would need to have a sinus lift to increase the amount of bone.

“The procedure was time-consuming, invasive, and painful,” recalled Joyce, “It isn’t something that you want to do twice."

However, the first procedure didn’t go as planned and the sinus lift would need to be performed again. Joyce became discouraged with traditional implants and decided to forego further treatment.

After a visit to Morgantown Dental Group, Dr. Dolin described a new procedure utilizing mini dental implants which are less invasive and very effective when less bone is available. The procedure is also faster than that of traditional implants.

“I’m so grateful that I decided to use the mini implants,” remarked Joyce, “They were so quick and painless.”

Recovery was also short, and Joyce had only mild soreness for a few days after the procedure.

“I can’t recommend mini dental implants enough” stated Joyce, “If a dental implant is in your future, minis are the only way to go.”

Kelly and her husband Mike are full-time working parents of four very active children, juggling multiple basketball teams and practices, dance lessons and recitals, bowling, cross-country, band…the list goes on.

People are noticing something different about Larae. When she tells them it’s her teeth, they go on and on about how much happier she seems.

“No, I just smile more,” is what Larae said she typically replies.

Larae has struggled with discolored and crooked teeth her entire life. After numerous failed attempts at professional whitening and some temporary solutions with another dentist, Larae searched for a new dental office. A little over three years ago, Laurel Beatty was in a car accident and suffered dental trauma, and initially received temporary crowns and implants to correct her teeth. After having dealt with temporary crowns for nearly two years, she came to Dr. Dolin for a more permanent solution.

Mark is an avid mountain biker who spends much of his time at Big Bear Lake hitting the trails. That was the case in the fall of 2009, when an unexpected accident resulted in severe damage to seven teeth. He wrecked on an advanced trail and landed face first into a large rock… the rock won. Unsure of what to do, Mark decided to contact Morgantown Dental Group to ask Dr. Wilson if he could help.

“When I called, the receptionist told me that Dr. Wilson had taken the day off to spend with family, but that she would call him. Within five minutes, she called me back and said that Dr. Wilson would meet me at the office. When I arrived at the office, Dr. Wilson was waiting on me and in a very calming way assessed the situation and got to work,” Mark remembered.

Mark received multiple composite fillings and veneers to restore his teeth. Fortunately, he did not require any root canals, and Dr. Wilson was able to restore his mouth fully in one visit.

Sam first came to Morgantown Dental Group because of his wife. “After my wife had gone to see Dr. Dolin and was really happy with the care she received. So she scheduled an appointment for me because I had a lot of dental health problems. Ross Williams experienced this before he moved to Morgantown and was unable to visit his previous dentist on a regular basis. I could tell that he was knowledgeable about all aspects of dentistry, and I felt very comfortable with his care.”

“My first trip to the dentist was to have a tooth pulled, and it was very painful. I became so fearful of the dentist causing me pain and using needles that I developed a dental phobia. I wouldn't go to the dentist for years at a time unless I had an emergency. Even then, each visit to the dentist was traumatic, further perpetuating my fear," Susie claimed.

Finally, after years of dental care avoidance, Susie’s embarrassment outweighed her fear.

Stephanie has needed very little corrective treatment over the years due to taking very good care of her teeth and coming in faithfully for cleanings. She takes pride in her teeth and wanted to come to a dentist that met her high standards.

“I can honestly say that I’ve never had one complaint about Morgantown Dental Group. When I arrive, they have me in within five minutes, and they treat me like family. The whole office is packed full of friendly people who are great at their jobs," expressed Stephanie.

In 2006, Sharon and her family suffered the tragic loss of Dr. John Lindsay.

"If it had not been for Dr. Dolin who stepped in, I don’t think we could have stayed," she confessed, "He is a wonderful person and a very talented dentist.”

Sharon and her children, Sarah, Beth, and John, have continued to come to Morgantown Dental Group.

“I have a very unique perspective on dentistry having been married to a dentist for so many years. Dr. Dolin has done an amazing job for us,” said Sharon.

Shirley has had trouble with her asthma for the past 20 years. She was seeing a pulmonologist, and, after multiple sleep studies, was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Her pulmonologist then referred her to Dr. Josh Dolin at Morgantown Dental Group because of her sleep apnea.

“I was to the point where I would wake up and I couldn’t breathe, or, I would snore and would wake myself up. I would get myself so worked up to where I just wasn’t sleeping,” recalled Shirley.

Shirley’s lower jaw would slide back when she would lie down or relax, which was causing her not to breathe correctly. Dr. Dolin had a mouthpiece made for her to keep her lower jaw in place.

“It is almost like a retainer that keeps you from gritting your teeth,” Shirley explained.

She wears the sleep apnea device at night, as a more comfortable alternative than a thick sleep mask. Shirley was so fond of Dr. Dolin for taking care of precisely what she needed and sizing her for an appliance.

“The sleep apnea mouth appliance has made a tremendous difference in my sleeping. I can’t praise what Dr. Dolin has done for me enough,” Shirley said gratefully.

Shirley can now sleep any way she wants: on her side, back, stomach, or change positions in the night without discomfort or breathing problems, thanks to Morgantown Dental Group.

Dr. Wilson was born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia. He graduated from University High School in 2000 and the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2007. Following dental school, he worked part-time for Morgantown Dental Group and the Bureau of Prisons before taking a Chief Dental Officer position in 2009 for the Department of Justice. Jason worked at this position for over 10 years before beginning a full-time position for Morgantown Dental Group. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Monongahela Valley Dental Society, and the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. Dr. Wilson is certified in Botox and Dermal Fillers as adjunctive care with general dentistry.

Jason is a third-generation dentist and looks forward to continuing the great tradition, quality, and reputation that his father, Mike Wilson, and his grandfather, Fred Wilson, have built throughout their careers. Dr. Wilson enjoys seeing generations of families being treated and Morgantown Dental Group and enjoys keeping that tradition.

He also enjoys watching, playing, and coaching all types of sports. He is an avid Mountaineers sports fan... "Hail West Virginia!". Dr. Wilson and his wife Amanda have four children: Jake, Samantha, Thax, and Zoey.

Born and raised in southern West Virginia, Josh Dolin moved to the Morgantown area in 1997 to begin his undergraduate education at West Virginia University. After receiving his degree in biology, he graduated from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in May of 2005. Dr. Dolin joined Morgantown Dental Group in November of 2006, after working in a private practice in Bridgeport, WV, for nearly two years.

"Staying in Morgantown was my goal after graduating from dental school. To be able to work and live in the town that I've grown to love over the past 10 years is a dream come true," Josh believes.

Dr. Dolin understands that a dental visit is something that can cause a certain amount of anxiety in most people. Because of this, he believes in providing both quality dentistry and a warm, friendly atmosphere. Dr. Wilson is a 1971 graduate of Morgantown High School and the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1978. Following dental school, he received his General Practice Residency certificate in 1979. After his residency, he joined Morgantown Dental Group as a full partner. Dr. Wilson has served as a part-time undergraduate clinical faculty member in the Department of Oral Surgery and as a part-time clinical instructor in Restorative Dentistry at the WVU School of Dentistry. He is a member of The 

Dr. Wilson notes, "I hope, to the best of my ability, to continue the quality and integrity in the practice of dentistry that I witnessed over the years from my father, Fred Wilson."

Dr. Wilson enjoys golf, WVU Sports and time with his family. His wife, Chris, is retired for the WVU Department of Mathematics. They are extremely proud of their three children, Kelley Harris, Jason Wilson and Jennifer Wilson. They are blessed with six grandchildren, all residing in Morgantown.
